The SCIS Varsity team

Girls,

You don’t have idea how hard it is to select 14 out of all of you. It was a great level of athletes and I had only two opportunities to see you. Unfortunately we don’t have much time since next week we already have a match.

I would like to thanks all the girls who tried out. I will personally thank you later and I would just like to let you know that do not give up on the team yet. If I have to cut someone for injury or discipline, I will call you back to the team.

So here it’s the list of players in no particular order:

  1. Louise Nielsen
  2. Franziska Von Wahl
  3. Hailey Gribble
  4. Katy Ni
  5. Olivia Messler
  6. Janie Chang-Weinberg
  7. Kyra Power
  8. Victoria Dubois
  9. Suh-Young Yoon
  10. Inês Silva
  11. Esmee Van Heesewijk
  12. Cassie Pierce
  13. Celine Vang
  14. Elisa Pecorari

So if you are in the list above, reply to this post (comment it) confirming that you can commit to the calendar posted here in this amazing site. We will have a meeting this Friday in my room at 3:15PM so we can talk about the season and the team.

First Tryout – Briefing

So we had our first tryout. Fairly interesting. We had basic drills for speed, ball control, passing and shooting. One of the highlights was the Bobinho, a drill where one player stays in the middle while other 3 or 4 players pass the ball around with one or two touches to it. If the player in the middle touches the ball, the player that passed the ball, goes to the middle and so on. Other interesting moment was the final scrimmage, where everybody was divided into 4 teams. Two teams played against each other for 2 minutes or one goal. Whoever won, stayed in the field and another team came in and so on. If no team scored in the 2 minutes, both teams were out.

I could notice that we have some great Freshmen players. It will be very hard to pick the 14 athletes for the Varsity Team. Next tryout will be this Wednesday at 4:30. Don’t forget to check the calendar online. If by any chance you cannot commit to it, let me know ahead of time.

See you Wednesday!
